About the event
Chapter member Brendon Knott invites practitioners to a two hour webinar which will provide a highly practical introduction to “Functional Contextualism” and how you can use these powerful philosophical assumptions to guide your clinical work with compassion and precision. This is a topic which is sometimes avoided by clinicians who are learning about Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) or other contextual treatment approaches because of the jargon-heavy language generally used to describe it. We will break down these ideas using simple language and real-world examples. We will then explore and practise a range of clinical skills which arise directly from adopting a functional contextual stance. This is not just a webinar for ACT therapists, but for any therapist who would like to adopt a lens which allows them to work in more individualised, holistic, and compassionate ways, guided by the core principles which underpin all contextual behavioural therapies.
